Liverpool have handed goalkeeper Simon Mignolet a five year extension on his contract in a show of faith in the custodian.

The club confirmed on their website that Mignolet will be at Anfield until 2021. The player expressed his delight by the move and told the club’s website he is delighted to be part of Liverpool for a long future.

“I am very pleased that I can be at Anfield and a part of Liverpool for a long future,” he told www.liverpoolfc.com after signing the deal on Monday.

He has been very consistent in the Liverpool jersey since joining in 20I3 and has missed just three matches. He has made 122 appearances.

In other transfer news, Manchester City have joined the race to sign Athletic Bilbao striker Inaki Williams.

They join Arsenal and Liverpool who have both linked to the Spaniard. According to the Daily Mail City sent head of recruitment Gary Worthington to watch the player last Wednesday.

Manchester United are reportedly interested in on form Everton striker Romelu Lukaku according to The Sun.

The Daily said United have been asked to fork out £65 million for the striker who cost just £28m when he signed from Chelsea.

But he has hit great form at Everton scoring 19 goals in all competitions and with it attracted the interest of top clubs in Europe.

United will also be happy to note that goalkeeper David De Gea wants to stay at the club despite high interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Apart from De Gea’s desire to remain at Old Trafford another thing that could bar Madrid from getting him is the fact that they have been barred from signing players until the summer of 2017.
