West Ham, Arsenal clash in London Derby

West Ham United will face Arsenal in an English Premier League match at the London Stadium on Monday.

The Hammers were 2-0 by Wolverhampton Wanderers away in their previous league game which was played on December 4.

It was West Ham’s fourth defeat in their last five league matches while the other game ended in a win over Chelsea.

They are also winless in their last four league games at home having registered three defeats and one draw at the London Stadium.

Manuel Pellegrini, the West Ham manager, reflected on their recent defeat to Wolves and he stressed the importance of defeating Arsenal.

“I thought we worked well, but we didn’t create the chances necessary to draw the game. There was the one clear opportunity in the second half and football is like that,” Pellegrini said.

“Sometimes you miss chances and sometimes you score, so now we have to look to win our home game against Arsenal.”

Meanwhile, Arsenal were beaten 2-1 by Brighton and Hove Albion at home in their previous league game which was played on December 5.

The defeat extended the Gunners’ winless run to seven matches in the league having registered four draws and three defeats.

They are winless in their last six away league matches having recorded two defeats and four draws on the road.

The last league meeting between West Ham and Arsenal was on the 12th of January 2019.

The Hammers defeated the Gunners 1-0 at the London Stadium.
