West Ham look to continue great form

West Ham United will look to continue their great form in the Premier League when they host Watford at the London Stadium on 22 December 2018, kick-off at 17h00 CAT.

West Ham has hit on their best run of form in the 2018/19 season, racking up four successive victories since they were crushed at home by champions Manchester City on November 24. The latest success for the Hammers arrived this past weekend when they won 2-0 away to Fulham in a London derby, thanks to goals from Robert Snodgrass and Michail Antonio.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini has done a great job in turning the Hammers into an efficient and potent outfit, especially with a lengthening injury list which includes talismanic striker Marko Arnautovic.

Watford also come into the game on the back of a victory last weekend, though the frenetic nature of their 3-2 triumph over Cardiff City (in which they led 3-0 with 10 minutes to play but still had to hang on at the death) hints at a team which is struggling to really find their groove.

In fact, Javi Gracia’s team had been on a six-game winless run prior to getting the better of Cardiff, and he will have been mightily relieved that goals from Gerard Deulofeu, Jose Holebas and Domingos Quina brought them a first three-point haul since beating Huddersfield Town back in late October.

In head-to-head stats, West Ham and Watford have met in 10 Premier League matches. Both the Hammers and the Hornets have claimed four wins, with two games ending in draws.

The teams’ most recent meeting was a Premier League clash at London Stadium in February 2018 which saw West Ham claim a 2-0 win, thanks to goals from Javier Hernandez and Marko Arnautovic. The last six league meetings of the Hammers and the Hornets have produced 18 goals.
