West Brom to claim another upset win?

West Bromwich Albion will target another upset win in the Premier League when they host Liverpool at the Hawthorns on Saturday, 21 April 2018, kick-off at 13h30 CAT.

West Brom gave their slim hopes of avoiding relegation a surprise boost this past weekend when they won 1-0 at Old Trafford against Manchester United. The victory not only kept the Baggies alive in the Premier League (though they remain bottom of the log, nine points adrift of safety with just four matches remaining), but also confirmed the title win for Manchester City.

Caretaker manager Darren Moore has seen his team take four points from his two matches in charge and although they are still likely to go down, at least West Brom appear to have recovered some dignity and self-respect.

As for Liverpool, they come into the game having claimed a 3-0 win over Bournemouth this past weekend, which saw Mohamed Salah rack up his 30th Premier League goal and hit the 40 mark across all competitions.

The Reds are looking to chase down United in the race for second place on the log, but they may opt to rest their key players for this clash given that just three days later they will host Roma for the first leg of their UEFA Champions League semifinal.

In head-to-head stats, West Brom and Liverpool have met in 119 matches across all competitions. The Reds have claimed 54 wins compared to 30 for the Baggies, while 35 games have been drawn.

The teams’ most recent meeting was in the FA Cup at Anfield in January, with West Brom claiming a shock 3-2 victory thanks to a brace from Jay Rodriguez and an own goal by Joel Matip. The result ended a streak of nine unbeaten matches in the rivalry for Liverpool.
