Tottenham Hotspur out to stop Liverpool

Tottenham Hotspur will face off with Liverpool FC in an English Premier League match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.

Spurs succumbed to a 1-0 defeat to Southampton away in their previous league match which was played January 1.

As a result, Tottenham are winless in their last two matches in the league having drawn with Norwich City away, before facing Southampton.

They returned to winning ways at home in the league when they defeated Brighton and Hove Albion in their last game at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

Tottenham will be targeting their second successive league win at home when they lock horns with Liverpool.

Meanwhile, Liverpool secured a 2-0 win over Sheffield United at home in their previous league match on January 2.

The win extended the Reds’ unbeaten run to 37 matches in the league having recorded five draws and 32 victories.

They are also undefeated in their last 17 matches on the road in the league having four 13 wins and four draws.

Jurgen Klopp, the Liverpool manager, has praised Takumi Minamino, who made his debut against Everton in the FA Cup on Sunday.

“Your first game in a team you don’t know, if it’s a settled team it’s already difficult – this team we threw more or less on the pitch with two sessions together,” Klopp said.

“And then showing this kind of game understanding, football skills are exceptional, attitude is outstanding, led the chasing pack so often in different situations, which I loved.”

The last league meeting between Tottenham and Liverpool was on the 27th of October 2019.

The Reds secured a 2-1 win over Spurs at the Anfield Stadium in Liverpool.
