Swansea and Southampton do battle in relegation dog fight

Swansea City will be hosting Southampton in relegation dogfight when the two lock horns in an English Premier League match at Liberty Stadium on Tuesday night.

The match is scheduled to get underway at 20h45 (CAT).

Both teams have it all to play for as they look to avoid the relegation axe and they will lay it all on the line come Tuesday night.

Swansea currently occupies 18th place on the league table with 33 points from 36 matches, only behind 17th place Southampton on goal difference due to both teams having the same number of points.

A win for either team will see them move up to 16th place on the table and out of the relegation zone.

The Swans come into the game on a low note following a 1-0 loss to Bournemouth this past weekend and will be under pressure to bounce back.

But they will have their backs against the wall due a to a poor run of form which has seen them lose their last three matches on the trot against Manchester City, Chelsea and Bournemouth.

In fact, the Swans have not managed a single win in the league in their last six matches. Their last win was a 4-1 triumph over West Ham United back on March 3rd.

Southampton comes into this game off the back of a 1-1 draw against Everton where they conceded in the dying minutes of that match to share the spoils.

The Saints are on a two-match unbeaten run in the league having beaten Bournemouth prior to the draw against Everton.

When Swansea and Southampton met earlier in the league season the game drizzled out to a rather boring goalless draw.
