Man City look to shoot down the Gunners

Manchester City and Arsenal will meet for the pick of Premier League matches this weekend, with their clash at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, 3 February 2019, kick-off at 18h30 CAT.

City come into the match looking to bounce back into league contention, with their title push suffering a massive blow when they were beaten 2-1 at Newcastle United on Tuesday night.

Pep Guardiola’s side took the lead thanks to an early goal from Sergio Aguero, but they conceded in the second half to Salomon Rondon and Matt Ritchie, suffering their fourth league defeat of the 2018/19 season.

The Citizens will be determined to bounce back in front of their own fans and try put some pressure on league leaders Liverpool, who will only be in action more than 24 hours later (the Reds are away to West Ham United on Monday night, closing out round 25 of the campaign).

Arsenal, meanwhile, come into the match on the back of a 2-1 home win over Cardiff City on Tuesday. Their ‘buddy cop’ forward duo of Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette were both on the score sheet as they got the better of the Welsh side.

The result helped restore some cheer for the Gunners, who were left disappointed by their exit from the FA Cup at the hands of Manchester United a few days prior.

Manager Unai Emery will hope his team can reproduce the kind of performance they put on when defeating Chelsea 2-0 at home last month, but doing the same away to the reigning champions will be an even tougher ask.
