Katsina United seek redemption against Plateau United

Katsina United will host Plateau United in the Nigeria Professional Football League match at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium on Sunday. Kick-off is at 17h00 CAT.

The Changi Boys were beaten 1-0 by Plateau in the first round league game which was played at the Jos International Stadium last weekend.

Raphael Ayagwa scored the only goal of the match 10 minutes into the second-half from the penalty spot.

The defeat ended Katsina’s three-match unbeaten run in the league. They had secured victories over Rivers United and  El Kanemi Warriors, and drawn with Abia Warriors.

Katsina is placed sixth in the league standings with 27 points from 19 games. They are three points behind third-placed Niger Tornadoes.

Abdullahi Biffi, the Katsina head coach, will be hoping to mastermind a victory over Plateau at home.

Meanwhile, Plateau extended their unbeaten to five matches in the league win over Katsina – having recorded two draws and three wins.

Club of Jos is placed fourth in the league standings with 29 points from 17 games. They are two points behind second-placed Kano Pillars.

Kennedy Boboye, the Plateau head coach, will be looking to guide his side to another win over Katsina which would see the Club of Jos complete a double over Katsina.

The defending champions will be hoping to extend their unbeaten run and keep up with the log leaders Lobi Stars, who have accumulated 34 points from 18 games.
