Liverpool-VS-Leicester

Leicester face test of their mettle

Leicester City will face a test of their Premier League mettle when they face log leaders Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday 5 October 2019, kick-off at 16:00 CAT.

Leicester appears to have established themselves as the ‘best of the rest’ behind the two clear title favourites of Liverpool and Manchester City, with a 5-0 win at home to Newcastle United this past weekend pushing the Foxes into a clear third place ahead of West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur.

Liverpool, meanwhile, extended their perfect start to the season with a seventh straight win last weekend. The Reds were well short of their best away to Sheffield United but still claimed a 1-0 victory (with a goal from Georginio Wijnaldum) to remain five points clear of Man City at the top of the table.

In head-to-head stats, Liverpool and Leicester have met in 92 matches. The Reds have claimed 38 wins compared to 33 for the Foxes, while 21 games have been drawn.

Last season Liverpool took four points off Leicester, with a 2-1 win at the King Power Stadium on September 2018 and a 1-1 draw in the return game at Anfield in January 2019.
