Liverpool put 100 percent record on the line

Liverpool will put their 100 percent record on the line when they face Tottenham Hotspur in a Premier League clash at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, 15 September 2018, kick-off at 13h30 CAT.

Prior to the international break, Liverpool consolidated their place on top of the log with a fourth straight win. The Reds triumphed 2-1 away to Leicester City, with goals from Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

Jurgen Klopp’s side has looked the best team on show in England’s top flight and the German coach will be anxious to ensure they continue their form and momentum – especially with a high-profile UEFA Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain coming up next midweek.

Tottenham would have been hoping to come into the match on an equal footing with Liverpool, but instead, they are placed fifth on the log after suffering a first loss of the season in their last outing.

Mauricio Pochettino’s Lilywhites were surprisingly beaten 2-1 at Watford (who, like Liverpool, have won four on the bounce at the start of the season). The London side claimed the lead thanks to a Hornets own goal but ended up conceding to Troy Deeney and Craig Cathcart to succumb at Vicarage Road.

Spurs will also be looking to get back on track quickly following the international break, and the match at home to Liverpool will serve as a great warm-up for their enticing clash away to Italian giants Internazionale in the Champions League three days later.

The teams’ most recent meeting was a Premier League clash at Anfield back in February which ended 2-2, with Spurs twice coming from behind (‘Pool’s goals were both scored by Mohamed Salah) thanks to a thunderous strike from Victor Wanyama and a last-gasp penalty from Harry Kane.
