United look to continue winning form

Manchester United will look to continue their winning form in the Premier League when they host Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Sunday, 30 December 2018, kick-off at 18h30 CAT.

United made it two wins from two under caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer when they defeated Huddersfield Town 3-1 at home on Wednesday, with a brace from Paul Pogba and the opening goal by Nemanja Matic.

Pogba looks to be reborn under the new regime, having been given a more attacking role in midfield, and United’s potency has improved drastically as a result. Yet they still remain vulnerable at the back, having failed to keep a clean sheet in either of their matches against Cardiff City or Huddersfield since the departure of Jose Mourinho.

As for Bournemouth, they suffered a stinging 5-0 defeat away to an in-form Tottenham Hotspur in midweek and manager Eddie Howe will be dispirited at seeing his team succumb to an eighth defeat from their last 10 matches across all competitions.

The Cherries’ league position has suffered greatly as a result: they find themselves in lower mid-table as a result and they are now a full six-points off the top six.

Bournemouth will look to recover the form that saw them defeat Brighton & Hove Albion 2-0 on December 22, with David Brooks (who scored both goals in that match) hoping to make a big impression at Old Trafford.

In head-to-head stats, United and Bournemouth have met in seven Premier League matches. The Red Devils have claimed five wins compared to one for the Cherries, while one game was drawn.

The teams’ most recent meeting was a Premier League clash at the Vitality Stadium in November which United won 2-1, thanks to goals from Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford – the latter’s strike arrived in the 90th minute.
