Champions League Chelsea VS PSG

Chelsea will welcome back striker Diego Costa for Wednesday’s Champions league match against PSG.

Costa was sidelined for the weekend Premier League fixture against Stoke City after picking a tendon injury.

But the Blues will be without team captain John Terry who is yet to recover from a hamstring injury he sustained last month.

Considering that PSG won the first leg match 2-1, Chelsea will be disappointed not to have Terry in the match considering that they need their best men for the job at hand.
The positive thing that Chelsea carry in this match is the away goal that John Obi Mikel scored in the first leg away in Paris after Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani had netted for the French side.

That was the only defeat suffered by Chelsea under Hiddink who took over in an acting capacity in December.

This is the third time that both sides are meeting at this stage in the Champions league. The first time Chelsea won and last season, PSG came out on top.

For the record, Chelsea have reached the same stage of the champions league 12 times in 13 years and during that time have made it to the quarter-finals eight times.

The French side on the other hand are making their third appearance in the knock-out stages and carry the best defensive record to Wednesday’s fixture.

The second Champions league fixture will be between Zenit St. Petersburg against Portuguese champions Benfica.

The Russians carry a 1-0 deficit in the return match as they will be seeking their first Champions league quarter final slot.
