Branislav Ivanovic the long serving Chelsea right back has agreed to a one year extension on his contract.

According to the Times the player whose contract expires this summer will sign the agreed extension next month and this includes the option of a further 12 months if he plays in a certain number of matches.

Ivanovic has been in Chelsea for the last nine years rising to become the current vice-captain.

Before his current agreement to continue his stay at Chelsea, the Russian has been linked with various Series ‘A’ clubs.

In other transfer news Manchester United are reported to have upped their interest in Atletico Madrid player Saul Niguez.

United according to various news sources ManU have already sent representatives to Spain to open negotiations talks.

But United will have to fork out at least €24m to be able to price away the player as he has just signed a five year contract with his club.

In another news Southampton Coach Ronald Koeman has warned Kenyan midfielder Victor Wanyama that he will sidelined if he tries to force a move away from the club this January.

The Kenyan is linked to a move to Arsenal but Southampton are unwilling to let him go.
