Loris Karius, Liverpool’s David De Gea?

Loris Karius has had a tremendously difficult start to his Liverpool career. The 23 year old signed from Mainz has made a number of mistakes which have cost Liverpool in recent games. As a supporter of another club that dons red colors, I wouldn’t be blamed for ripping him to shreds and saying how rubbish he is, but I won’t. To the contrary, I see a little bit of our own keeper in Karius. David De Gea had an equally tough start to his time at Man United. He was scrawny and struggled under the high ball but he had undoubted quality as a shot-stopper. Sir Alex could see it and instead of hanging his young keeper out to dry, Sir Alex continued to play him and shielded him from the harsh criticism of the press. Fast forward a few years and David DeGea is arguably the best keeper in England one ...

United v Leicester Preview : Rooney To Be Dropped?

It’s a rare thing to have Man United cast as the underdog in a football game but they just might be against Leicester. The troubled Red Devils host the Foxes in the early kick off on Saturday. United who started the season on a high after winning their first three matches, look to be stumbling after going down to City and Watford in recent weeks. Should United lose on Saturday, it will just be the second time in his entire career that Jose Mourinho has suffered three consecutive league defeats. United will take comfort in the fact that they remain unbeaten in seven home league matches against the league champions. There may be changes to United’s line up with rumors that skipper Wayne Rooney is set to be dropped following some woeful performances this season. Drafted in his place cou...

United pulled one back in the 62nd minute through Marcus Rashford who tapped in from close range. Mourinho’s men had dominated possession in the second half but were dealt a hammer blow when Juan Zuniga scored with his first touch. T...

EPL Week 3 preview

The usual suspects Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea are all in the top four positions. But newcomers Hull City remain the biggest surprise after picking maximum points in two matches and are surprisingly placed third on the log. They surprised champions Leicester City 2-1 in the season opener and beat Swansea 2-0 last weekend. Hull face perhaps their biggest test when they host Manchester United on Saturday. Two wins in a row have given Hull City plenty of confidence going into Saturday’s fixture but in United they face an inspired side that has not dropped any points so far. Hull manager Mike Phelan has done well for himself considering that he inherited a squad that was ravaged by injuries and he has not been able to buy any big names. He will be hoping that Shaun Mal...

BPL weekend highlights

The Frenchman had been suspended for the opening match of the season after a yellow card he received in Italy was carried over. Pogba played alongside Marouane Fellaini in midfield though he frequently went forward even as he made an energetic full debut. He made more touches and more passes than any of his team-mates on that night and should have been disappointed that he did not crown his debut with a goal. Former Swedish international Zlatan Ibrahimovic was the hero of the match as he scored twice on his home debut. His first goal came in the 26th minute when he headed home Wayne Rooney’s cross. Then he scored again in the 52nd minute from a penalty kick as United picked their second win in a row. Ibrahimovic is turning out to be a great asset for United since he signed on a free transf...
