FA Cup – Villa VS Wycombe

Bottom of the table Premier League side Aston Villa will be looking for some pride in the FA Cup when they host Wycombe in Tuesday’s third round replay.

Villa have been unimpressive in the league front where they are expected to be relegated and the FA Cup remains their only hope to do well this season.

But even here, Villa have also been struggling considering that they failed to beat their league two side opponents in the first match on January 9 something that did not go down well with their home fans.

However, going into this match, history favours Villa. They have won their past seven FA Cup ties against lower tier opposition. Secondly, they have managed to make it to the fourth round of the FA Cup in the last six out of seven seasons.

Thirdly, they have a good record at home in this competition having won ten of their last eleven home fixtures.

Villa will welcome back midfielder Carlos Sanchez from injury. Wycombe will be hoping to register another upset in the FA Cup having eliminated higher ranked side Milwall in the second round of the competition.

Bradford takes on Bury in the other FA Cup third round match. Bradford are yet to concede a goal in the competition and will be hoping this can inspire them to the next round of the competition.

In other third round matches, Bristol City hosts West Bromwich, MK Dons are at home to Northampton, Ipswich travel to Portsmouth while Yeovil hosts Carlisle with Bolton inviting Eastleigh and Reading clash against Huddersfield.
