Manchester knock the wind out of Arsenal

One week ago, teenager Marcus Rashford was little known beyond the Manchester United dressing room.

But when he scored a double on his debut against FC Midtjylland in Thursday’s Europa League match, he attracted some interest.

But on Sunday, Rashford became an instant hit and was on the lips of everyone when he scored twice and set up a third goal as Manchester United edged out Arsenal 3-2 in the biggest Premier League match of every season.

The loss no doubt has derailed Arsenal’s tittle hopes and revived United’s ambitions of finishing in the top but what remains is that Rashford will remain the talking point for weeks to come.

It was an even sweeter performance for the 18 year old as he was making his debut in the Premier League and handsomely repaid the faith placed on him by United manager Louis Van Gaal.

Rashford had a successful stint with the United under-18 side topping the scoring charts last year after scoring 13 goals in 25 matches.

Aside from Rashford’s performance, a lot of questions will be asked about the seriousness of Arsenal in winning the Premier League this season.

The Gunners have fallen once again in their bid for the tittle and must work harder in the remaining seven matches to be sure of winning the title.

Coach Arsene Wenger will however still be happy by the performance of Danny Welbeck and Mesut Ozil who scored a goal each and looked sharp in front of goal.

While Arsenal were stuttering, Leicester City maintained top position on the log thanks to a 1-0 win over Norwich Union on Saturday. Leicester City have 56 points two more than second placed Tottenham Hotspur who stopped Swansea City 2-1 in Sunday’s match at home.leicester beat norwich

Chelsea maintained their good form under Coach Guus Hiddink when they came from a goal down to edge out hard fighting Southampton.
