Leicester to outfox the Toffees

Leicester City will be confident of pushing Everton back toward the Premier League’s relegation zone when they meet in a midweek clash at Goodison Park on Wednesday, 31 January 2018, kick-off at 21h45 CAT.

Leicester have enjoyed strong form in the league of late, claiming seven points from their last three outings. The Foxes beat Watford 2-0 on January thanks to goals from Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez to leapfrog above Burnley into seventh place.

Everton are just two placed below Leicester, but the fact that they have failed to win any of their last six matches – and are just six points above the relegation zone – has everybody at Goodison Park a little nervous.

The Toffees and manager Sam Allardyce cannot afford to remain in this funk if they are to keep clear of the danger zone below them, but stopping the fluent and confident Foxes will be a tall order.

In head-to-head stats, Everton and Leicester have met in 99 matches across competitions. The Toffees have claimed 36 wins compared to 33 for the Foxes, while 30 games have been drawn.

The teams’ most recent meeting was a Premier League clash in late October 2017 which saw Leicester claim a 2-0 home win at the King Power Stadium, thanks to goals from Jamie Vardy and Demarai Gray.
